The Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) will convene the 8th Jordan International Civil Engineering Conference (JICEC8) in Amman during 24-26 March 2020. Due to vast and accelerating advances in technology, materials, construction approaches and management skills, this vast scientific event will assemble under the title “Smart Civil Engineering”. The conference is intended to have wide-ranging, technical, educational, and cultural components that would be of interest and benefit to a large audience of leaders, engineers, professionals and students in the Civil Engineering profession across all disciplines and levels of experience. The conference topics include seven key themes. Each theme has a set of sub-topics that define specific areas of presentation proposals. The sub-topics meaningfully, though inexplicitly, address the various civil engineering specialties including Structural and Materials Eng., Transportation Eng., Water Resources and Environmental Eng., Geotechnical Eng., and Project Management and Governance. The conference encompasses the participation of renowned keynote speakers, talks, technical oral presentations, roundtable discussions, disruptive panel discussions, and poster sessions, covering the topics in the scientific program. The Organizing Committee would like to extend an invitation to the engineering community to participate in the conference which aims to provide a forum for dialogue and interaction by top experts in the field of smart engineering, a medium to arouse wonder and interest in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed for a smart civil engineering future, and a means to transfer know-how to seasoned professionals, junior engineers and students, alike.
