Workshop: Using Audio stories with children

Participants: Educators, activists, librarians, artists and/or civil society volunteers.



Description: This workshop is geared towards teachers, librarians, artists, volunteers, and animators who wish to use audio stories as a learning tool. The workshop includes several activities including: How to present the audio story and ask questions about it; several theatre games that aim at improving memory and concentration for children; improvisation and acting out scenes from the audio story; helping trainees acquire basic puppet making skills and teaching them to children; and training in finger puppet making and developing simple performances based on the audio stories.


The workshop aims at disseminating audio stories to the largest number possible of children; using audio stories within classrooms to develop listening and communication skills; creating new relationships between librarians and children; and strengthening the involvement of youth volunteers within their communities.


Language: the workshop will be conducted in Arabic.

If you are not residing in Jordan and wish to take part in the workshops please apply to a travel grant from Safar fund (www.safarfund.org) at the same time as you apply for the workshop to expedite the travel grant selection process. The deadline for workshop applicants who are also applying for a Safar grant is the 24th of August 2012 (for both applications).
