Born in Syria

Hernan Zin, 86 min, Documentary, Arabic and English with English subtitles, Spain/ Denmark, 2016

Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria in 2011, about 9 million Syrians have left their land; half of them are children. "Born in Syria" tracks the path of seven children for a year.

Through their eyes, we see their lives since fleeing from Syria, through the refugee camps in the Middle East, until their arrival to the promised land - Europe - where the documentary continues to follow them during their first six months there.

“Born in Syria” is a unique testimony of the refugee experience.

The movies has won the Premio Forqué Award for Best Documentary Feature, Humanitarian Award at Tiburon International Film Festival in the USA, Special Prize from the Republic Of Turkey’s Ministry Of Culture & Tourism, Best Documentary at Premios Platino, IRIS Prize for Best Documentary by the Jury of the Television Academy in Spain, Grand Prix du Festival des Libertés in Belgium, Special Mention in Category Documentaries for 16-20 years old young people at Castellinaria, in Switzerland, Broadcast prize from Rai 3 (Italy) at PriMed 2017.
