Amid the chaos of refugees fleeing the Korean War in December 1950, a young boy, Duk-soo, sees his fate change in the blink of an eye when he loses track of his younger sister and leaves his father behind to find her. Settling in Busan, Duk-soo devotes himself to his remaining family, working all manner of odd jobs to support them in place of his father. His dedication leads him first to the deadly coal mines of Germany, where he meets his first love, Youngja, and then to war-torn Vietnam in this generational epic about one man’s personal sacrifices.

“Ode to My Father” has received numerous awards, including: Blue Dragon Award for Best Supporting Actor and Best Art Direction, the Jury Award at Buil Film Awards, Audience Choice Award for Most Popular Film and Best Screenplay at Chunsa Film Art Awards, Director’s Cut Award for Best Actor, Grand Bell Awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound, Korean Association of Film Critics’ Awards for Ten Best Films of the Year and the Audience Award at Udine Far East Film Festival. The film has also participated in Busan International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival and Osaka Asian Film Festival.

Sang-jin was a promising young singer who now works as a high school music teacher, after suffering from a vocal cord tumor. His ordinary life is suddenly rattled when Jang-ho, a local teen hooligan is transferred to his school. Jang-ho is a constant source of headache, but upon hearing his singing voice, Sang-jin realizes the boy’s pure talent and decides to help develop it. Just as the two grow their special bond, an unexpected conflict arises between two rival gangs, which propels Jang-ho into a crisis. Will Jang-ho overcome the obstacles and fulfill his destiny as a world-class singer?

“My Paparotti” has won the Grand Prize at Fukuoka Asian Film Festival. It was screened at Montreal World Film Festival, Shanghai International Film & TV Festival and Jeonju International Film Festival.

Ja-yoon’s life falls into turmoil as they turn her seemingly ordinary life upside down in a blink of an eye…
The film has won the Buil Film Awards as well as the Grand Bell Award for Best New Actress in addition to Cheval Noir Award for Best Actress at Fantasia Film Festival. It has also participated in Busan International Film Festival, London East Asia Film Festival and Lund International Fantastic Film Festival.
